Every battery cell can fail. Good design does not pretend otherwise. It makes sure that a single failing cell is detected early and never becomes a problem for the enclosure next to it.
Heat is the first line of defence
Most failures start with heat. Liquid cooling with per-rack control keeps cells inside a narrow temperature band, which slows ageing and leaves more margin before anything can go wrong.
The aim is simple: one failing cell stays one failing cell.
Monitoring matters as much as hardware. Cell voltage, temperature and gas sensors feed the control system continuously, so unusual behaviour is isolated long before it becomes visible.
Layers of protection
Early gas detection that isolates a rack within seconds
Deflagration venting that directs pressure safely away
Water-based suppression designed with local fire services
Spacing and barriers that stop heat moving between enclosures
Safety is not a feature added at the end. It shapes the layout, the controls and how the site is operated for its whole life.
